  • Hollywood Movie Party – have a glamorous red carpet event.  Your guests can do an impression of their favorite Hollywood stars like Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Cher or Elvis.  This is the right time for the women to wear those sexy chic dresses.  Men can be dashing and dapper in their tuxedos.
  • Mexican Party – throw a unique fiesta and look hot in fancy sombreros and colorful ponchos while serving Margarita and Tequila to your amigos and amigas.
  • Hawaiian Party – women can wear bikinis and grass skirts.  If you are daring then you can go with the coconut bras.  Men can wear polo with flower prints and beach shorts.  Don’t forget to put on your leis.
  • ‘50s Party – rock and groove to the ‘50s.  Your male guests can wear tight v-neck muscle shirts, leather suede jackets, blue denim jeans and biker or hiking boots while your female guests can be in floral swing skirts, a-line dresses, stockings and petticoats, pencil-style outfits with boleros and roller skates.
  • ‘60s Party – have a psychedelic party and request your guests to be in their best Hippie Look.  Men can wear a tie-dyed shirt or a button-down shirt with floral prints, bell-bottom jeans and a pair of sneakers.  They can also go for the Dick Tracy Look by wearing a tuxedo and a tall hat.  Women can do an oversized tussled shirt or a sleeveless tie-dyed blouse, tight jeans and cowboy boots.  Another option would be an elegant tube dress with boas and a pair of long black stilettos.
  • ‘80s Party – new wave and radical theme.  The ladies can do the Madonna look and wear fishnet stockings, black corset, black tulle skirt and high-heeled boots.  They can also go with oversized sweaters, leg warmers, vests and accessorize with bangle bracelets and chandelier earrings.  The guys can do the Miami Vice look which is an all-white suit and bright colored shirt underneath.  Or maybe do the Michael Jackson look by wearing thin white shirts and a leather jacket, high-waist jeans and white sneakers or moon boots.
  • Masquerade Party – can be a Carnival, Mardi Gras or an old-fashioned Victorian Masquerade Party.  Ball gowns and tuxedos are the basic attire but the most important thing is the colorful and interesting masks that your guests will be wearing.

If you are tired of throwing the usual boring party and you want to try something different, these costume party ideas will definitely guide you in your party planning.

Kids Party Ideas

Kids really get excited and anxious when it comes to having a party.  They want to be the coolest kid in town by throwing the greatest party ever and impress their friends.  Parents feel the same level of excitement as their kids and get overwhelmed with kids party ideas.

Planning and organizing a party for your kid starts with the time and date.  The first thing that you have to consider is the duration and start time.  You have to make sure you have ample time to prepare so you won’t have any last minute worries.

The next step yet the most important one is deciding on a party theme.  The best thing to do here is come up with at least three themes and ask your kid to choose which one he or she likes best.  The theme will serve as the vital element of the party.  The decorations, party favors, games and the cake will all depend on the party theme.

Here are some party ideas and themes that might appeal and entice your kids:

  1. Pirate Party – An incredible theme party for boys.  Kids can come to the party in Pirate costumes.  Finding a hidden treasure chest can be an awesome game for this theme.
  2. Princess Party – Fulfill your little girl’s dream of becoming a Princess with this theme.  Your kid and her friends can dress as their favorite Disney Princess like Snow White, Cinderella, Belle or Jasmine.
  3. Mickey Mouse Party – A classic and kid’s all-time favorite theme.
  4. Barbie Party – A fancy tea party with Barbie.  You can request your guests bring their own Barbie dolls.
  5. Pool Party – The best theme for the summer.  Very practical for those people with swimming pool in their backyard.
  6. Star Wars Party – An out-of-this-world theme for the avid fan of the epic.
  7. Superhero Party – Very popular theme for boys.  Kids can dress up as their favorite superhero like Superman, Spiderman or Batman.
  8. Slumber Party – Suitable for young ladies – kids in late elementary or middle school.  A very practical theme as well, no need for fancy decorations, just sleeping bags for the guests.  Kids can come in their pajamas.
  9. Jungle/Safari Party – Turn your backyard into a zoo.  Pin the Tail on the Donkey (lion or monkey) would be a perfect game for this theme.
  10. Circus Party – A fun, colorful party theme for boys and girls.  Magicians and clowns performing some tricks can be the highlight of this party.

There are a lot of kids party ideas available.  You just have to be resourceful and imaginative to execute your party plans.  It can be challenging but at the end of the day, very rewarding especially if your kid had a great time.
